Linking connects Anastasis Desktop to your account, so the hours it records land on your profile. You do it once per computer. There are two ways in, and the first one has nothing to type.
The normal way: sign in with your browser
The fallback: a pairing code
Use this only when the browser hand-off will not work at all.
If the app is already installed, the portal also offers Open in Anastasis Desktop, which hands the code over in one click so you never type it.
About the code
It looks like ABCD-2F7K — eight characters, letters and digits, not a PIN. Case does not matter and the dash is optional, so abcd2f7k pairs just as well. The alphabet deliberately leaves out I, L, O and U so nothing can be mistaken for 1 or 0. Use Copy code in the portal rather than retyping it.
When a code will not work
The app shows one message for every code problem: Invalid or expired code. Generate a new one in your portal. There are two reasons behind it.
- It was already used. A code links one computer, once.
- It expired. Codes last 15 minutes from the moment you generate one. The portal shows the expiry next to the code.
Either way the fix is the same: click Generate new code in the portal and try again.
After linking
The app keeps a device session on that computer and uses it for heartbeat, tracking and evidence upload. Your linked computers are listed on the Anastasis Desktop card, where you can Unlink one or Link another computer. If a device is revoked, the app stops tracking on it.
